Jesus Redeems Everything

Redeem…it’s not a word most of us use much in daily conversation, but a word we may hear often during this Holy Week.

Here are a couple of definitions:

“to do something that compensates for poor past performance or behavior;”

“to gain or regain possession of something in exchange for payment.”

Christians have believed and accepted that Jesus’ suffering, death and resurrection “redeemed” our immortal souls, our eternity. After all, that belief was what actually began our lives as Christians.

Nothing can be more important than the wonderful reality that Jesus redeemed His followers from punishment for our sins and separation from God.

Yet when Jesus cried, “It is finished!” from the cross, He was announcing that His redemptive work was complete in every way.

Not only did He then have the power to change our consequences and destinations after death, He also has the power to compensate for our performance and behavior in the here and now.

Jesus redeems everything! Our eternal souls and any situation or relationship we relinquish to Him in our lives today.

“[Jesus Christ], who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.”
Titus 2:14 NIV
